Kigosi Game Reserve was established in 1983; it is the third Game Reserve in Tanzania after the Selous and Rungwa Game Reserve and covers an area equivalent to 7,000 square km.
Location
The Kigosi game reserve extends from Bukombe and Kahama Districts in Shinyanga Region up to Urambo District in Tabora Region.
Accessibility
By road
The reserve is easily accessible by road using four wheel drive cars.
By air
The area can also be accessed by chartered aircrafts.

The maximum temperature of the area is 29 degree C.
Rainfall
There are two rainfall peaks annually in this reserve and these appear in February and November. The dry season starts in mid May and ends in mid October. Annual rainfall varies between 1,000m and 1,500m.
