Tanzania Safari Accommodations

From extremely luxurious to luxuriously basic, Tanzania offers a very wide range of accommodation options.

For the very adventurous, there are well-organised but simple ‘fly-camping’ options, usually associated with walking safaris. At the luxury end of the market, there are a few properties that offer genuine quality, and many further that combine a high level of comfort with exclusivity, great service and wonderful locations.

For more mainstream safaris in the northern parks, there are a series of decent hotel-style lodges which offer perfectly adequate accommodation, but not a great deal of exclusivity or imagination. If you are prepared to be a little more adventurous, and can afford the extra cost, then there are a number of fantastic seasonal and mobile tented camps from which to choose.

In the south and west of the country, properties tend to be much smaller, rarely catering for more than 24 guests. There are a number of excellent permanent tented camps and lodges which vary in style and comfort but manage to offer a similarly wild and authentic safari experience.

On the coast, the hotel options are equally varied, with a few very exclusive ‘beach retreats’ in remote, unspoilt settings, and a large number of more mainstream beach-resort hotels, particularly on Zanzibar.
